

Senior Stephanie Logterman made a run up the center of the field deep into Portland territory and then played the ball to senior Courtney Gaines who's subsequent shot was saved by UP keeper Kelsey Davis.Īfter UT's initial pressure, the Pilots took over offensively spending the majority of the half in Texas territory. Texas started the match off on the attack as it earned the first shot on goal of the game in the sixth minute.

Texas was whistled for a foul in the box setting up the free kick that sophomore Schmidt connected on for the 2-0 lead.

The Pilots extended their lead off a penalty kick with 10 minutes remaining in the match. Texas keeper Dianna Pfenninger dove to save the shot leaving the net open for Pilot Danielle Foxhoven to find the back of the net for the lead. The sophomore collected the rebound and fired a shot to the lower left corner of the goal. UT defender Kasey Moore attempted to clear the cross out of the goal area but a Portland player was able to get a foot on the clear and deflect the ball out to UP's Sophie Schmidt. Portland netted the gamewinner in the 11th minute after setting up its offensive attack with a corner kick. The Longhorns finished the year 13-3-4 while Portland (19-1-0) advances to the Round of 16 to face James Madison.
